the problem i have is that the in tblAbsOccuranceLine the
primary key AbsLineID does not increment every time an
absence is recorded for a member of staff. In other words
an AbsLineID is never given to an absence, only an
AbsenceID. Again, this means that although a member of
staff CAN have many different absences, they don't belong
to a single AbsLineID. I really want to get over this
stage so that the system is functional, and i can document
it well enough.

i want this to work the same as an order ID system, so for
example, on a receipt you'd get a reciept id or something,
and then on the reciept you'd get the individual product
id's. please help me!!!!!!!!!!! thanks, joe

I'm having some trouble visualizing your data structure.

More info, please...
