I restarted Windows XP, and was presented with the news that it could nould
not boot because it had a corrupt file. I reinstalled XP, and now have two
installations. When I restart, I have to choose between the new installation
and the corrupt one. How do I delete the corrupt one?

Right click MyComputer, select->Properties->Advanced tab->
Startup&Recovery settings, uncheck time to display list of
operating systems. Here you can edit its selection which comes
from file Boot.ini on (most likely) your C: drive. You do not want
to format partition that has Boot.ini on it. To safely release space
occupied by bad install, I would reinstall with XP CD, deleting
partitions, then letting it reformat whole drive.

If for any reason, you are using EFS (Encrypted File System)
anywhere in your system, make sure you back up your personal
keys BEFORE you delete the old install or your files are probably
lost.
