I had some problems after I upgraded from Me to XP Professional. After a few tries, it finally worked. Now, it seems as though my dvd and cdr are not being supported by my computer, so I thought I would try a clean reinstall AGAIN! This time I hope I'm doing it correctly. I still have some of the Me operating system on the 250 GB hard drive in a FAT32 format. When I installed XP, I put it into NTFS format. I still hope to continue with the NTFS and I wondered if I should be leaving my external hard drive connected to the laptop when I do the reinstallation??? I would appreciate it if you would let me know.

You should remove your external hard drive when you do the
reinstallation.
