It's a bit unclear what you have and what you want to do. I'm assuming
that you upgraded your laptop from XP to Vista. Do you wish to remove
Vista and return to XP or do you wish to dual-boot (XP and Vista)?

If you wish to return to XP, then use the recovery process as specified
by your laptop mftr. This will be described in the manual that came with
the laptop or on the laptop mftr.'s website for your model machine. If
the laptop came with a hidden recovery partition which you removed when
you installed Vista and you forgot to make recovery disks, call the
laptop mftr. and order new XP recovery disks. This will be the most
cost-effective and practical thing to do.

If you want to keep Vista and dual-boot with XP, you will need to
purchase a retail copy of XP.
