Reinstalling windows

I want to reinstall Windows XP with the format option. I
have all my documents and important stuff saved on a
second hard drive inside my computer. Will I be able to
save and retrieve them from my second hard drive after
reinstalling windows XP?

Sure, why not. Disconnect the second drive when reinstalling WinXP.
