Reinstalling Windows

I am feeling that the only solution to my Scanner & camera Wizard problem will be to reinstall Windows WP Home Edn

I am not confident as to what might be the effect of such a move on existing programs & also on previously installed Windows updates

could anyone with a similar experience please give me an insight into what might be the pifalls of reinstallation

Detailed instructions for reinstalling:

Always back up your data, you will need to download updates again and
reinstall programs.
