MY QUESTION IS SIMILAR TO THE PREVIOUS ONE...I AM MISSING
SOME FILES THAT CAUSE PROBLEMS WHEN TRYING TO LOAD SOME
SOFTWARE. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM, SYSTEM
RESTORE DOESN'T HELP. I AM TEMPTED TO REINSTALL THE
WINDOWS XP PROGRAM, BUT I AM AFRAID THAT DOING THAT MAY
CREATE MORE PROBLEMS, OR THAT I COULD LOSE COME OF THE
INFO THAT I HAVE STORED, LIKE LETTERS SAVED IN MY MAIL
AND PICTURES SAVED IN "MT PICTURES" FILES. I'M VERY
COMPUTER ILLITERATE, BUT I'M HOPING THAT THIS WOULD BE A
SIMPLE SOLUTION.
THANKS,
BUD

Here are a couple of things you could try:
1) Replace your keyboard since the Caps Lock seems to be stuck in the on
position.
2) Hit the Start button, select the Run... option
3) From the box that pops up, enter 'cmd' without the quotes
This will give you a 'black' box called a command prompt.
At the promt enter 'sfc /scannow' without the quotes.
Have your Windows XP disc handy. The 'sfc' program will scan your
system files and will replace any that are missing. It may ask you for
your XP CD in the process.
