Hi

Its that time again when I need to format my pc and reinstall xp. I have
downladed enough rubbish that its slowed right down plus i cant install (or
uninstall) AVG anti virus.

My pc came loaded with XP home when I bought it, and I have formatted and
reinstalled once since then. Will I be able to do this again and activate
again without any problems?

Any tips are much appreciatwed.
Thanks
John

Hi John

Yes, you can reinstall Windows via a 'clean' install and still re-activate.
What kind of XP CD do you have?

Hi,

Does your PC come with XP installation CD? or is it like restore CD?

Maybe, you can try repairing the XP instead of doing a new installation cos
sometimes it does the trick and
make the OS faster as it will overwrite all the system and important files.

You should have no problem reactivating your pc once you have completed a
fresh install.

Thanks. I'm going to try and do a fresh install this weekend. I know it wont
be a fun job to do haha. guess i can kiss most of saturday goodbye, but I
hope it will work.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Thanks for your reply. sorry Ive been away so didnt check this forum for a
few days. I have i think its an oem cd. says for distributiuon with a new pc
only, includes service pack 1a. then separately i have service pack 2 on a cd
that came with a pc magazine.

so I guess I will try and do a clean install this weekend. i got a pretty ok
checklist on what to do from here:
http://www.rayshaw.com.au/article.aspx?ArticleKey=411

right now my pc has an 80gb c: drive and 40gb d: drive. windows is on and it
boots off c: At the same time as i reinstall im going to replace the 40gb
with a 160gb. Hopefully that wont cause any problems.

wish me luck :)

Hi Kelvin

thanks for your reply. to reinstall it i assume i will have to do all the
steps like reinstalling sp2 and then downloading and installing all the
updates. it would be great if i could get away without having to reinstall
all the drivers though. somehow there always seems to be something that i
forget to back up. its a pretty stressful exercise really - even if this time
i think i better equipped than last
