Dear Microsoft,
I know I have lost all my documents forever after a much needed
reinstall, but little did I know that you guyz would make it so my programs
stayed, but not my documents! How stupid is that? The programs should be
erased or be able to be reimported into the start menu easily because most
of them need reinstalling anyways! And the My Documents folder should not be
overwritten so the files are deleted in there... the most important files on
a person's computer where they think they will be safe! Please create an
installer update that when windows xp reinstalls it backs up these files so
the same thing doesn't happen to other users.

Sincerely,
Mike Engel

Please learn how to do a correct clean install or a correct upgrade install
before posting. If you do a delete partition, format, clean install, nothing
will be left on the computer. If you do an upgrade install all your docs and
programs stay. If you do a repair install windows files will be gone and
most likely your my docs as well and your programs will stay. During setup
it explains what happens, if you just read the screens and do it correctly
it works fine. Learn to do an os install correctly or have a support tech do
it for you.
