Hi. I am trying to reinstall Works, and it is telling me that Internet Explorer is running and needs to be closed before I can continue. I dont know how to close it. I use Aol to get online. Thanks in Advance, Diana

Make sure that Iexplorer.exe AND NOT explorer.exe is not running by right-clicking on the toolbar and choosing Task Manager. If Iexplorer.exe is running, just end the process, but make sure that you closed the program before doing so. Also, make sure you don't have any programs running in the background that might use IE.

I did what you asked, and the only thing shown runnning was AOL...I got offline, did it again and it showed that nothing was running..so I went to control panel, add programs, inserted the CD, and it popped up again saying.......Microsoft Internet Explorer is running, close program before continuing with the installation.......so therefore, Microsoft Works still is not installed.....I dont have anything open, so how can it be running?
Thanks again,
Diana

Just wanted to say thanks again....but I got it....I was messing around with my MSN messenger...and it was setup to ALWAYS run.....changed the options....all it took....and Works is now back on my PC !!!!!
