reinstalling issues

I'm planning to redo my HDD and have a few questions about reinstalling XP:
Once I complete the primary install process from my "Setup Disks" my system
will have XP Home and most of my applications installed ... at this point I
usually start "updating" things and would download/install SP1, etc. until
I've updated the system to SP2.

I have SP2 on CD ... does that CD also contain all the updates that were
part of SP1 (and everything in between?)

Do I need the updates from SP1 or can I go right to SP2?

Is it possible to get SP1 on CD?

SP2 supersedes SP1 in its entirety. Therefore, you only
need to install SP2.

To make your reinstallation easier, create a new Windows XP
CD with SP2 slipstreamed and then install.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

or

AutoStreamer 1.0.33 (preferred)

Yes, SP's have always been cumulative, so SP2 includes every update from
release of product up to and including SP2.
Do I need the updates from SP1 or can I go right to SP2?
No, applying SP2 will also apply SP1 stuff.
Is it possible to get SP1 on CD?

Frankly, I don't know, but it is not necessary.

As an aside, you might want to check into Slipstreaming your SP2 into the
Source and burning a new CD to install from.
That way you install once and are immediately at SP2 level.
One of the many available descriptions of how to do this can be found at:

Thanks to both Carey and George for their responses! The "slipstreaming" idea
sounds good but won't work with my "Setup Disks" as they use a "ghosting"
system but thanks anyway for the info and suggestion.
