Hi,

I just reinstalled XP Pro, and sp2, and can connect to the internet through
my router, but cannot now access my other Win2000 home computer.

When I try to go into Workgroups, I get the following error message:
"Workgroups is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact ....etc, etc..... The list of servers for this
workgroup is not currently available."

Obviously, my router is working fine, as is the connection, which is 100bps,
and I can access the internet through it, but I cannot 'see' Workgroup
computers.

Any ideas?

Jules

you must setup an account matching your XP logon on your win2000
system.....Same username and password.....

Hi Robert,

I am reinstalling using Raxco FirstDefense, which allows dual booting
between the old and new installations. Following successful reinstallation, I
can then delete the old version. However, yhis does not affect the
installation in any way.

Consequently, I don't want to rename anything on my Win2000 machine, as it
still works OK with my old XP account. The problem must be with the XP
installation. I take on board what you say, but it is totally dead. Normally
you can see the Workgroup computers, and then enter the user name and
password. But I just don't see anything at this time.

Hi Robert,

Thanks, I took on board what you said, and realised I had changed my
password for the new admin account, and reset it back to the original for the
old XP account.

Now it works after a bit of twiddling here and there (At last). Thanks.

Regards,
Jules
