Help Please

Trying to get to the user account from a previous installed version of Windows XP Pro. I am not sure if I was ht by Sasser or not, but Thursday morning the computer would not boot past the Windows screen and then reboot itself. I reinstalled Windows over the old version. But now I am trying to access my old accounts. I can get to an account that did not have a password on it, but I can not access the user account that had a password on it. The old account has just the user name, the new accounts have a . extension after them on the drive

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Matthew

the account you can log in to does it have admin privellages

if not boot into safe mode and log into the administrator accoun

if it is ( admin privellages

go to c:\documents and setting
see what user names are there as this is where the profiles for windows are stored

If they are there

go to registry (regedit) in start\ru

hkey local machine\software\microsoft\windowsNT\current version\winlogon\special accounts\user lis
here if you see any values for the missing user accounts delete these values

Go to http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ click on the bootdis
button on the top of the page...scroll all the way down and get th
FIRST zip file. Make sure you a blank floppy ready. There ar
instructions on the page, but when you boot off the floppy this progra
creates, almost every option you need is defaulted. This program wil
allow you to change any Windows account password INCLUDING th
administrator password. With XP make sure you create a new passwor
and don't create a blank one..XP doesn't like that too much. Post bac
or email (e-mail address removed) if you have any questions.

Otherwise, is any of the data encrypted?
