I have win xp and outlook 2000. I thought the place my email files were
saved was on my e drive. But I saved the files on my c drive to my e
drive too and then reinstalled win xp and outlook 2000. What are the
email file names and extensions? Are they dbx? Is there any way to get
my email back? Please help.

They are .pst files. However, XP puts these in hidden folders. If you
change your view to see hidden folders, you should be able to find them.

Outlook 2000 stores the information in Personal Folder Files (.pst). In
order to find the old .pst file:
1. Go to Start -> Search.
2. Click on "All files and folders".
3. Now go to Tools -> Folder Options and Select the View tab.
4. Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is Selected and then
Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" and Click OK.
5. Now on the line labeled "All or part of the file name:" type in *.pst
and Click Search.

After you locate the old .pst file you can Open it in Outlook by going to
File -> Open -> Personal Folder File or by Importing it Outlook.

I hope this information is helpful.
