Allan

I reformatted my "C" drive (with DEll'S instructions)and
then reinstalled 2000 Prof, and XP Prof from an updgrade
disk (without DELL'S help)2000 installed nominally, BUT
When Xp setup asked "what file system to choose" ( it
gave me 5 choices) I chose "leave as is" ( I chose NTFS
when I installed 2000. I now have two system folders
(Windows and WINNT) installed. Problem is I don't know
which one I can delete safely (I think windows) OR if I
should. Start up list both OS's. How can i fix?

Also, now Internet Explorer 6 SP1 is not launching links
from other software outside of IE. The browser starts,
and nothing happens (address field remains blank) are the
problems connected?

Thank you

Hi

Open a command prompt (Start/Run and then "cmd.exe" without the
quotes).

Run this command to see what folder Windows XP is installed to:

set SystemRoot

Delete the other folder than the one you see here.

Reboot to verify that everything is ok.

To remove Windows 2000 from the startup list, you need to edit
C:\boot.ini (hidden file). Be careful when doing that, because if
you do not do it correctly, you can end up with a system that will
not start Windows.

Be sure that the default key in boot.ini points to the Windows XP
partition before you delete the Windows 2000 line. If you are unsure
about what to do in boot.ini, post the content here to get help.
