I have reinstalled xp on a Dell laptop and now I guess I am suppose to
reinstall the drivers? The computer seems to be working.. Could I have left
the drivers on when I did the reinstall? How do I check if I need to do that
step too? I have the disk space I was looking for by doing this reinstall!
Now I just want to reinstall internet and take a walk...

What drivers do you "think" you NEED to install? What's not working?

I don't know what I need. I don't know much, so I asked kinda dumb questions.
Dell's instructions said to reinstall the utility CD that came with the
computer. That has Notebook sys software, Intel chipset, Video, Audio, input
Drivers, Network card. But I have sound, and the keyboard works, don't care
about Video, dont know what other stuff is. Is there a way to see if these
things are already on the computer?

The DELL restore CD ensures that all necessary drivers are installed so that
your laptop is configured exactly as it was when it left the factory.

Unless, of course, the OP "reinstalled XP" using a Dell WinXP CD instead of the
Dell "Restore CD."

Right-click "My Computer" > select "Manage" > in the right hand pane clcik

If no yellow exclamation marks or red Xs then everything is at least
working. I don't do DELL much so its been a while, but you might try
visiting the website for the latest drivers if you feel you really need
them. You probably do not though, if everything already works well and you
plan to use the laptop as you said you would.

In other words, since it is a Dell and you used its specific Recovery CD,
all the right drivers probably are already installed with it.

No, your questions are not dumb.

XP has drivers for most of the stuff out there. If your machine works, why
take a chance?
