Ok... I tried to install Norton Anti-Virus today and it
did something really bad. The system still boots and
some programs (Word, Excel) work normally. However the
computer is no longer seen on my network, can no longer
access the internet (it connects wirelessly thru another
computer), and no longer can get to the user account
screen.
I think the best approach at this point is to reinstall
Windows XP (it's a Dell computer and they provided the
restore disk when purchased). However, I'm a little
hesitatnt to start this without some guidance.
Can someone either give me step-by-step instructions or
point me to a website that does this. I'm looking for
everything from how to reformat the hard drive all the
way to having the new XP up and running.
I'm not a computer idiot however I've never had to
install an OS before. Don't feel as if you can make this
to easy for me
.
Thanks in advance for the help,
Ed
