I purchased xp pro for my Toshiba Laptop last year.
Laptop was unrepairable under Circuit City Extended
Warranty Plan. New laptop replacing unrepairable unit
w/licensed copy of xp pro. I tried to install my xp pro
on new computer & product code was invalid.

How do AI get my XP Pro to upgrade on my new Toshiba
Laptop with Win XP Media Center. I need to network at the
office.

Please HELP.

Thank you very much,

Ray

XP Media Center Edition is, for all intents and purposes, XP Pro except it
has the additional multimedia components.

Greetings --

Since WinXP Media Center Edition is a _superset_ (iow, it does
_everything_ WinXP Pro can do, plus contains additional features) of
WinXP Pro, replacing it with the regular WinXP Pro is actually a
"downgrade." No OS that I've ever heard of supports downgrades, so
your only option would be format the hard drive and perform a clean
installation. You can do this if you wish, but all you'll really
accomplish is voiding the laptop's warranty -- and for no good reason.
There's not a thing that WinXP Pro can do that WinXP MCE cannot also
do, including networking.
