I have a system with Windows 2000 on drive C: and Windows
XP on drive D:

I want to replace the W2K installation with Windows
Server 2003. After I install 2003 I shall not be able to
see the XP installation on the boot manager menu.

How do I get the XP os back? Does FIXBOOT solve the
problem? Do I need 3rd party software?

I would like to get this straight before I do the
install. Thanks for any help.

David

You should still see the XP install in the boot.ini. FIXBOOT is not meant
for that purpose, so it wouldnt work, BOOTCFG would help you recreate a
boot.ini though.

Joseph,

I plan to reformat the C: drive before the reinstall.
The boot.ini would be gone, but I could save it and
restore the line that points to the existing XP
installation. Or, does the 2003 install pick up the
existance of the XP installation?

Is that all I need, the line in boot.ini?

Thanks.

David
