My C drive is sounding like its on its last legs and I will have to
get a new one. Its the drive the Windows XP pro is on.

If I fit a new hard drive will I be able to reinstall XP Pro or will I
need a new copy? The rest of the computer will remain untouched.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some step by step guide to
this? I've installed new hard drives no problem, its the Windows
verification issue that I'm wary of!

Cheers

Your quickest way of doing this would be to get some 3rd party partitioning
software (Partition Magic www.symantec.com) or Partition Expert
(http://www.acronis.com/products/partitionexpert/) and just copy your old
C-drive contents onto the new disk, possibly resizing the partition(s) on
the fly. Once done, make sure your new drive will be the one to boot from
(switch cables if you like).
Done this in the past and everything still worked.
Haven't had any complaints from the OS. :-))
Of course, YMMV :-))
