ANy way to do it with out losing the information that is setting in the
programing in that file?

Had a bug in my system and did a back up install from the hiden drive of

Reinstalling from "hidden" drive "usually" means the system is back to
factory settings ; all data is probably gone . Unless you mean a
system restore .

Yes Jim Thank you for catching that.It was a system restore that I did. Any
ideas on getting the programs and files out of the backup?

You can "restore" the program files and settings files from the backup,
but anything as far as settings contained in the registry are history.
That means the programs will not run correctly as the configuration
registry entries don't exist, the program install does all that registry
setup so the program will work.

It seems there is much confusion in this thread. I note the expressions
"backup install", "hidden drive", "factory restore", "System Restore" and
"backup". The first expression doesn't mean anything at all and the other
expressions mean various different things.

I suggest you clarify the matter and report exactly what you did, in which
order and where you stand right now. A step-by-step description might be
most useful.

OK this is what happend. My parents opened a email with a bug attached. It
was taking over the control of the programing and the net explorer.I did a
system restore from the original base programing the computer maker partition
into the hard drive. As it did it it backed up the hard drive into a backeup
file of all programing in the system at the time. Now I need to restore the
programing in that file. It has items loced into it that I need for my
busness. (check book,ordering invoices,time sheets,ect)

*** How up-to-date is your virus scanner?
It was taking over the control of the programing and the net explorer.I

*** You need to post full details of what exactly this involved. Different
*** manufacturers have different methods.

*** I thought you said "restore"? Where does the backup action get

Now I need to restore the programing in that file.
*** How exactly did you perform this backup? Please

*** created every week? Are they on a different medium?

*** Remember that we cannot see your system. Unless you

If all you did was a system restore , the bug is still there .
