reason as to why not because you are using a third party

First of all, note that MVPs are not "from" Microsoft. MVPs are
like others here, people who are XP users and share their
knowledge with others. The only difference is that someone with
an "MVP" behind his name has been given that title by Microsoft
in recognition of his consistently supplying accurate
information.

Second, whether or not it's about XP software, I would be happy
to answer the question if I knew the answer. However I've never
even heard of "regsupreme" and can't help.

What Ken said. I just want to add that 1) people certainly will comment
on third-party software if they are familiar with it (can't help you
with registry cleaners myself, though since I don't use anything but
Regedit); 2) most of the MVP's and techs I know do not recommend using
third-party registry cleaners because they can do more harm then good.
Most of us are familiar enough with the Registry to use Regedit and
take care of things ourselves. Some people *do* use registry cleaners
and have good results with them, of course. However, unless you are
familiar with the Registry, how will you know it is safe for your
registry cleaner to delete those files it has marked out?

While there are no doubt many that will 'sing' the praise of RegSupreme it
caused me nothing but problems and I would advise, based solely on my own
experience, not to use it. I did e mail the author of the program with the
problems I experienced and while he replied it was simply a 'brush off'.
The only Registry Cleaner endorsed/recommended by Microsoft is System
Mechanic. I have used System Mechanic for many years now and have never
experienced a problem, obviously that does not mean others have not had
problems.

The need of a registry cleaner is debateable. I use System Mechanic but
full recognize that it probably does not add very much if anything to system
performance/stability or whathaveyou. Could be likened to a placebo.

Rule of thumb: If you have to ask, then you are not familiar enough with
the registry to run a cleaner.

you see Malnuman no one gave you a straight answer
because they can't but Kelly advise is best though ...

On the contrary, he got *lots* of straight answers.

1. Don't use third-party registry editors (from me and the other techies
who answered).
2. Can't report on programs we haven't used.
3. One poster said he *had* used RegSupreme and advised to stay away
from it.

What part of those straight answers didn't you understand? I'm sure the
Original Poster did.
