Hi Bill,

What do you mean exactly when you say "To Re-Create A New Registry"? Do you
mean to backup your registry?

Can you eloborate a little about what you are trying to achieve.

Many Thanks,

Jon

What registry hive keys need to be exported by regedit to use to
re-create a new registry? I have been exporting all the registry hives and
when I try to import them I get a message box saying that some of the hive
is being used and all data couldn't be imported.

Have a read here.

"The "Export registry" function in Regedit is USELESS (!)
for making a complete backup of the registry."

Have fun,
Paul

It is a sad time in computer land. In the old registry could be
recreated from two main hives. user.day and system.dat could be erased. All
gone now then?

The old registry? You are talking about the Windows 9x registry. The
NT registry structure composed of six Hives arranged into five Subkeys
has been like that since at least 1996, maybe even earlier (1993) but I
am not 100% sure of the NT 3.1 registry structure...

1994 is what I remember positively on this hive structure. Like you I am unsure also
from before
