I just bought a new PC from dell with OEM install and have set the regowner
to my name under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/WinLogon
however whenever I install a new program it does not pick up the
inforamtion. Anyone have any ideas???

Hi Norman,

Wrong spot, your one level too deep. Edit the RegisteredOwner string here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Oh, and don't you think you were just a tad bit excessive in your crosspost?
One or two appropriate groups at most, three tops. Anything else means you
aren't really posting to appropriate groups. For instance, what does this
have to do with network_web, perform_maintain, or security_admin?

The registry key you're altering
(HKLM/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/WinLogon) has
*nothing* to do with the information you want to change. Try editing
the correct key, and you'll get better results.

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can
use Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some
read the registered owner information dynamically, some read it only
during installation, and some don't read it at all.

Bruce I have changed in the correct location my first message was a typo.
Now when I go to install new programs it still comes up blank and does not
pick up the regisited owner. Registered org is blank

I tell you the answer and you act like that. You are a bit of an idiot. You spend time on someone pathetic problem and they act like this. I do note the additional information I requested was not supplied by you. But the person who did supply it is happy. If your information is different then you should say so.

I understand it's hard being retarded and only able to make one post and to make it repeatedly. Also calling someone a cigarette isn't insulting as I smoke and like cigarettes.

You tomato, beetroot, onion.
