While looking for something I came across an entry in the Reistry -

.....Zonemap/Domain and then a list of various web sites.

What is the purpose of this list and is it okay to delete?

thanks

That key contains domains that have been added to security zones (Control Panel, Internet Properties, Security tab).

Since your path is incomplete we are going to have to guess.

This?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains

SpywareBlaster and other anti-scumware applications add sites to the
Restricted Sites Zone.

Restricted Sites
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones

The Zones key contains keys that represent each security zone that is
defined for the computer. By default, the following five zones are defined
(numbered zero through four):

Value Setting
------------------------------
0 My Computer
1 Local Intranet Zone
2 Trusted sites Zone
3 Internet Zone
4 Restricted Sites Zone

[[Restricted Sites Zone
This zone contains Web sites that you do not trust. When you add a Web site
to the Restricted Sites zone, you believe that files you download or run
from the Web site may damage your computer or data. By default, there are
no Web sites assigned to the Restricted Sites zone, and the security level
is set to High.

NOTE: Security settings are applied only to files on your computer that are
in the Temporary Internet Files folder (using the security level of the Web
site from which the files came). All other files are assumed to be safe.]]

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains

The Domains key contains domains and protocols that have been added to
change their behavior from the default behavior. When a domain is added, a
key is added to the Domains key. Subdomains appear as keys under the domain
where they belong. Each key that lists a domain contains a DWORD with a
value name of the affected protocol. The value of the DWORD is the same as
the numeric value of the security zone where the domain is added.

If they have a Value Data of 4 they are in the Restricted Sites Zone.

Example >>>

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\
ZoneMap\Domains\008i.com
Value Name: *
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 4 (Hexadecimal)

This is the list of Restricted Sites from >>>

IE | Tools | Internet Options | Security tab | Restricted Sites |
Sites button | Web sites | *.008i.com
Using the asterisk * as a wild card (represents any other character) in
front of .008i.com includes all the domains in .008i.com.

Sites button
[[Click this to add a Web site to the currently displayed zone.]]

This was what I was looking for as I didn't know most of the sites or how
the sites ended up in there. I was concerned as to the purpose of them.
Thanks again.

It can be startling to see all of those nasty sites in one place. Keep
having fun. :-)
