could someone please tell me how to remove all traces of norton internet security/anti-virus from my registry. it's driving me up the wall....... thanks

Hi

A 'Clean' install of XP is the only way. Norton products put some much
dross into the Windows system folders and Registry that is impossible to
manually delete all references.

Unless you can live with that 'dross', the only way round it is a 'Clean'
install:

The following article by MVP Michael Stevens will show you have to perform a
'Clean' install of XP

"Clean Install Windows XP"

Even a 'Repair' install won't get of all the Norton crap.

Will;

While I generally agree with your posts, I must differ with you on this
one. Symantec has removal instructions and tools on their website. Many
people, myself included, use Norton products with no issues. I, on the other
hand, do not like McAfee for all the garbage it puts on the system. It is
all a matter of personal preference. I will concede that without the tools
from the Symantec website, uninstallation can be rough, but it can be
completely removed without a wipe/install.

That's not necessary, at all. Symantec provides very complete
manual removal instructions on their web site.
