registry wont save changes

I need to edit my registry (System 32 directory comes up
on screen at boot up). Anytime I make a change and exit
out of regedit, the changes are gone when I reopen
regedit. In addition any changes made via msconfig are
not saved. I have another computer also running win xp
pro and this is not a problem. Any ideas? Thanks.
 
Hi,

Are you running the system with Administrative privileges. Only computers which are running with Administrative privilges can make changes to the Registry. No other user can make change to the registry.

Yes, I only have one user account an that account is
system administrator.
