I am troubleshooting a Windows XP Home edition PC with a serverly corrupted Registry and it wont boot from the Hard drive or a CD drive. I cant format the drive because there are needed files to recover. What can I do?

Why can't you boot to the CDrom? Go in to the BIOS and move the CD up to #1
on the boot list. Then give it a shot.

Hi,

How do you propose accessing the system if it won't boot from hard drive or
CD?
What makes you suspect it is a registry problem?

Try booting up in Safe Mode as well. Generally speaking,
push F8 as your computer is booting up and it will ask
you what mode you want to start up in. If that doesn't
work, you might have to go into the "BIOS" to tell your
computer to boot from the CD drive. To get there common
keys to put while booting up can be F1, F4, Delete, etc.
If you look closely when you turn on your computer, it
should tell you what key(s) to push to go into the BIOS.
