Registry Problem

I can no longer access any of the drives on my computer via shortcuts.
The computer runs fine, and if I launch Windows Explorer I can display
and manipulate files. However, trying to use a shortcut launches the
Search utility, which then freezes the whole computer.

I am reasonably sure the registry values for my drives have gotten
screwed up somehow. I would appreciate instructions on how to fix it.
The registry keys to search for and the correct values would be great.
My hard drive is a SATA drive that loads a driver at boot, if that makes
a difference.

TIA
