Registry Problem?

I recently upgraded from ME with IE5 to XP Pro with IE
6. My ISP is NetZero. After the upgrade, I also
upgraded the ISP software to the latest version. That is
where my problem started. Prior to the ISP upgrade, my
startup boot time was about 30 seconds. After the ISP
upgrade it is now 6 minutes!! After the boot up I get
the following message "Windows cannot find N:\Explorer6
\NZie5.exe". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the ISP
software 3 times with no improvement and I still get the
same message. My theory is that the OLD ISP software had
a registry entry pointing to "NZie5.exe". The uninstall
program has not removed that entry and now the CPU spends
6 minutes looking for a non-existant program and then
gives me the above message. Am I correct?? If so, how
do I eliminate that registry entry? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

I don't know, Jerry: Nzie5 is not a Windows XP file and it doesn't turn up
in the search engines. It sure sounds like it has to do with NetZero. Does
your ISP recognize it?

You can uninstall NetZero's software and also uninstall TCP/IP. Reinstall
TCP/IP first and be sure it's set up the way NetZero likes to have it. Then
reinstall the ISP software.

I don't know if this is part of it, but what are you doing with an 'N'
drive? Did you choose that letter for a partition?

You could try looking for the program under the startup tab of msconfig
and disable it. You didn't say if your internet connection is still
working?
