Thanx, I downloaded vbs file and double clicked as told but this just opened
a script file! I downloaded to "c" drive but should it have been sent to a
specific folder???
|Sorry to be a pain & thanx for help so far...

Nah, I just download 'em to the Desktop.

You should've ended up with msconfigdisabled.vbs. If double clicking did
not work...

Right click msconfigdisabled.vbs and then click: Open.

See if that does it. If not, delete msconfigdisabled.vbs and download it
again. Maybe it got corrupted.

Sorry Wesley, I think Im missing something or im just plain stupid. I
downloaded file to desktop & doubleclicked it, it was "msconfigdisabled.vbs."
but what do I do with it? it doesnt execute anyprog and registry isnt
affected.. (Will understand if u dont reply kinda hoggin ur time) thanx.

When I need to do something like this I just use RegCleaner.
http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-download/archives/reg-cleaner4.3.htm

When you run it, go to its Startup List tab and you'll see a list your
startup items. Check the ones you want to remove and click Remove Selected.
This should remove them from the startup list. One warning, if you're not
sure what something is leave it alone, I learned that the hard way.
RegCleaner has a restore feature, but I wouldn't put too much faith in it.

Double clicking msconfigdisabled.vbs should open the file. Right clicking
msconfigdisabled.vbs and then selecting Open, should open it. When it opens
you should get some popups with questions.

Open the Registry Editor and Navigate to>>
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder
Anything listed in the right hand pane?? (Default) doesn't count.

And

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg
Anything listed in the right hand pane?? (Default) doesn't count.

Hi man, good news. The msconfigdisabled didnt produce any popups thats what confused me, it did nothing but I went to HKEY_LOCAL etc and removed the entries manually. Wouldn`t have known to look there without your help. Thanx again for all your help it was MUCH appreciated. c ya

I'll let you in on a secret. I right clicked msconfigdisabled.vbs |
selected Edit | And looked through it for reg entries. ;-)

Glad you got the msconfig deal straightened out. :-)
