Registry edit not staying

I edited the registry to stop a pop up reminder. Company even sent me the
"file" to run. However, the changes don't stay. Any idea on what could be
causing the changes to revert back. All I'm doing is changing the line from
a (1) to a (0).

Has me frustrated.

Thanks.

What pop up reminder? What company sent you a file to run? Which
changes don't stay? What line are you changing? Do you have necessary
permissions to make the changes, are you a member of the Administrators
group?

We have no idea what you are talking about, we are not clairvoyants!
Provide more information if you want someone to help you.

Please help us to help you.

What pop-up reminder? What company? What file? What line did you change?
What was the entire line before you changed it and what did you change it
to? How long does it last before it reverts back? Immediately? Next boot?
Some other interval?

It's very difficult to provide help if you aren't specific in your question.

Thanks. I guess I should have been more specific. The pop up is a reminder
to check for updates, but it really just wants you to buy the latest version.
In the pop up there is a place to change reminder time frame to 7 days max,
but no way to shut it off. Corex sent me the following:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corex\CardScan]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corex\CardScan\Main]
"CheckForUpdates"=dword:00000000

however, the Dword always reverts back to a '1'. I have manually tried it
as well. I've never had a problem have changes stay before.
