Using IE6 and XP Home. Is it important to back up my registry? How do I do
this and how often? A step-by-step is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

if you haven't disabled "system restore," then you don't have to worry
about it. system restore backs up your registry for you.

for step by step guides on how to use windows, go ahead and search on
microsoft's website. all your answers are there.

Hi

I backup the Registry every 24 hours - just in case - and use a 3rd party
program as the 'Export' option in regedit.exe doesn't export all of the
Registry:

Please read the documentation available on that page before using Erunt.

System restore creates a restore point every 24 hours. One of the things it
backs up is the registry, however system restore can malfunction, so it is
best to also backup the registry by other means ERUNT is an excellent
program for that. It can be used to restore a previous copy of the registry
from the recovery console if need be. Here are some links for it.

Or you could just use XP's backup prog to back up the System State. It's
free, already there, and easy to use. The System State is the registry and
all other information your computer needs to get going.

ERUNT is much easier both to run and to restore from.
