I need to edit the registry on my PC running XP. I want to
back up the registry beofrehand to my ZIP drive but I
don't know what it is called or where it resides. A search
of files with .reg gives a list of about 40 files, none
that look right. Anyone tell me how to find it before I
screw up the PC?

Go to Run and type regedit press ok from the pull down menu you will be able
save your reg files.

did ever try looking right in run...regedit...file...export...
I think you should have someone who really knows what they are doing tackle
that...if you can't even find that export feature...you better be real
careful with any editting....I sure wouldn't let you touch my machine.....

I've done these steps. Where do I put the file from backup
if the changes I make aren't correct for what I'm trying
to do. I need a directory, sub directory, etc. My
registry, as a copy, is now sitting on my ZIP drive.
I want to know where the original is located. Read the
question before you mouth off.

this is goin be good......I will definitely keep my mouth shut and watch all
you future posts on straightening out this mess..

This is for Marty - My apologies. Something happened
yesterday beyond the PC issue and you caught my venom for
trying to help. Sorry. My PC problem is solved also.
Thank you all.
