When you download trial versions of programs, where would the program most
likely put the registry key that tells the computer I've used that program
before? Is there a common area of the registry that I would find these keys?
This is just for my own knowledge. Thanks in advance!

there is no specific place...
sometimes it's in the registry...
sometimes there's a small undescript file hidden off in some system folder

They put it where people likely can't find it to tamper with it. The
companies DO like to get paid for their efforts!

It varies from program to program; the various developers all use
differing methods to ensure that their product is difficult, if not
impossible, to use beyond the designated trial period without purchasing
it.
