Is it ok to run regclean on W2K Pro with Office 2000 installed? I seem to
remember that there was a problem, but I can't find it now. Thanks,

Gerhard

MS does say there is an issue although I've used it for ages with both Win2k
and Office2k installed and never had a problem. But I've since stopped
using it as there are much better third party (jv16 power tools)
applications out there.

That is one aspect, Gary,

I'm not on Office 03 yet, but probably will be soon. I remember seeing a
post where someone said that regclean removes a key from the office
installation that then causes VB to ask for the install disk of office.

This is the situation I'm worried about, W2K SP4 patched, IE6, Office 2000
SP2, Visual Studio 6.0 SP5. That message might have referred to earlier
versions of this combination of software though.

I've run regmaid, and most of the orphaned keys seemed to be from an earlier
version of IE. And the speech recognition system, for some reason.

The article says it applies to Office 2000, XP, and 2003, and that
"RegClean is not compatible with the products listed at the beginning of
this article." I've heard it said that RegClean causes problems with
Office 2000, but I don't know whether those saying so were speaking from
direct experience or just quoting from the article.
