General: When VPN users reconnect to the network, not all
drives are "coming back." It seems to be related to
offline files.
Particulars:
Folder redirection via GPO is redirecting 'My Documents'
to \\mspfile01\Users\%Username%
Offline files are enabled on the client; home folder
(\\mspfile01\Users\%Username% - via folder redirection) is
synchronized on logoff.
User's home folder is mapped from the user profile - H: -
\\mspfile01\Users\%Username%
Logon script is mapping drives as follows:
N: - \\mspfile01\MPLSData
P: - \\mspfile01\PublicInfo
R: - \\mspfile01\Finance
S: - \\mspfile01\apps
T: - \\mspfile01\Tgsa
X: - \\mspswapp01\Ecrmlrnr
Y: - \\mspswapp01\Ecrmcomp
If I lose my network connection and then Explore:
I have the H:\ drive because it is cached.
All drives that are mapped to the same server as my H:\
drive (N:, P:, R:, S:, and T
allow me to click on them
with no errors, but there is no data displayed.
All drives mapped to other servers (where I do not have
any locally cached files) return the error "X:\ is not
accessible. The network location cannot be reached. For
information about network troubleshooting, see Windows
Help."
When my network connection comes back and I Explore:
The H:\ drive is still displayed but it is the cached
version, not the live network version.
All drives that are mapped to the same server as my H:\
drive still display but with no data.
All drives mapped to other servers display live data.
If I run the Synchronize command, all drives are updated
and display the live version.
I tried all of the same tests as above with fully
qualified paths with the same results.
If, however, I leave the home folder as \\mspfile01\users\%
Username% and map the H:\ drive that way but change other
drive mappings in the login script to
\\mspfile01.int.capella.lan\. then all drives except H:\
return an error when there is no network connection and
refresh as soon as the connection is restored and display
live data.
