Have a new system running xp(#2).
Have 3 systems(all xp's) on network. #1, #2, #3
When I'm on one of the original systems(#1 or #3) and go to My Network
Places, the folders/files from the old(#2) system still show up.
Is there a way to refresh what is showing up or do I just right click and
delete on #1 and #3?

What to be cautious before I mess something up. :-)

try highlighting and press F5, refresh it maybe ,,, certainly you have
tried to access the non existent folder and files and windows discovered
they don't exist ?

Highlite and F5 didn't do anything.

I understand that the file doesn't exist but not sure if I can just right
click and delete w/o messing something up.

Right-click and delete is the right solution.

XP doesn't remove items from My Network Places automatically. It
can't tell whether a shared disk/folder no longer exists or whether
the computer is just temporarily turned off.

THANKS. Just didn't want to delete something and mess everything up.

Brings up another question.
IF I delete something that I shouldn't, will it reappear next I reset
system?
Just trying to learn......

You're welcome!

It might reappear, provided that you've enabled "Automatically search
for network folders and printers" in Tools | Folder Options | View.

If it doesn't reappear, you can click "Add a network place" and add it
manually.

You can access a shared disk folder directly, without using My Network
Places, by typing its computer name and share name in the Start | Run
box in this format:

\\computer\name

Personally, I find My Network Places to be so slow and error prone
that I don't use it.
