I'm having some problems reformatting my c drive...I was actually updating a critical update for Windows when I was told that I had pirated software for Windows...I was oh no this isn't going to happen...the computer I have is a computer that was given to me by someone else and I knew that I had to reformat sooner or later now I can't get access to the BIOS to start up from disk...is there another way I can reformat the disk without going through the setup?? The person that had the computer before me put a password on the setup so I can't get access to the BIOS at all...so please help I want to get rid of the pirated software...

Thanks for your help
Jen

A password set in the BIOS can be dumped if you have the motherboard manual
and are ready and willing to move the jumper on the CMOS so that all
settings are reset to default. Doing this will eliminate the password and
require you to go through all BIOS pages to verify everything.

If you don't have the manual go to the motherboard manufacturer's web site
and see if they have a downloadable version.

You can also remove the case cover and look around for a label similar to
CCMOS (Clear CMOS) and move the jumper from pins 1-2 (default) to 2-3
(clear). (About 10 seconds should be long enough; move the jumper back to
where it was.) [Mine are 1-2 then 2-3 so I'm assuming yours would be the
same.] Make sure the power cord is unplugged from the case.
