I have been reformatting my Dell Optiplex. Well it is freezing up during the

seem like it.

What exactly do you mean by freezing? What point does it freeze? Are
there any error messages?

There are a number of possible causes for this, two of which are failing
memory and incompatible or failing hardware. Remove everything that isn't
essential, strip the hardware down to the bare minimum - just the video
card.

Do some testing

1. HDD diagnostics from the manufacurer's site
2. RAM http://www.memtest86.org
3. swap out the power supply

YEs, a format will freeze after booting with a bootdisk to format if the
hard drive is bad or incorrectly set up in the bios.
