reformatting and installing xp pro

I can figure out easily enough how to reformat my 2 disks, but I don't
understand how I'll reinstall windows xp pro. I guess in bios I can specify
the cd rom as the boot dirve, but will the computer recognize the cd drive
when I boot the computer?

Yes, it will - but why don't you give it a try BEFORE wiping
your current OS? You have nothing to lose!

You boot from the CD and do a clean install.
