My VAIO laptop has become unbearabley slow over time and
all the lesser measures are not helping much. My question
is how can I reload just XP home off my recovery disks
and discard all the bundled Sony software I've no use
for...?

Much thanks PA

They don't want to have anything to do with giving out
info on how to delete their(SONY) imbedded/bundled
software. Generic answer go buy XPoff the shelf!

They're right. So-called "recovery CDs" are not standard; each vendor can
create their own version. Play with them at your own risk.

The "bundled Sony software I've no use for" probably includes your office
software, CD-burning software, drivers and other things you might find
useful.

The correct way to use a set of recovery CDs is to back up every file and
folder that is important to you, since recovery CDs erase your hard disk,
and then follow Sony's directions for using their recovery CDs. After you
have restored your system to the way it was when it left the factory, you'll
need to update all your software and drivers, and set up your computer all
over again. Once that's done, you can restore the information you backed up.

All in all, it would be a better investment of your time to learn how to
solve the problems you currently have. This has the added bonus of giving
you the knowledge that will prevent the same problems from recurring.
