I have Windows Professional 2000 and I want to uninstall
Windows Professional 2000 by reformatting my hard drive
and then install Windows XP Professional. I have made
startup disks for both operating systems mentioned but am
getting messages that I can't reformat because of the NTFS
that Windows Pro 2000 works on being that XP Pro works on
a 32FAT.

Both operating systems work with NTFS.

You could boot the Windows XP CD and install.
When prompted, have it reformat the partition.

Hey! I am reformatting (actually already have) my c drive. Afterwards it won't recognize my cd rom drive. I am booting using a win98 boot disk and choosing for it to boot with CD rom capability. I have my windows setup disc in the cdrom drive. when I type in setup, it says CDR-101: not ready reading drive D. I have tried other letters but get the same thing. What do i have to do to get Windows 2000 to install again?? I have run fdisk but didn't actually do anything in it but look at the different areas on partitions.

Boot the win2k cd. If that doesn't work then the
drive is kaput.

the cdrom I have is an OEM version that came with the computer. Do I need to create a primary dos partition? I was trying to copy my cabs over into the c drive but it says I don't have enough room. I have a 27 gb hard drive.

Yes, use the CD to create the primary partition, and any logical ones and
format them.
