Make a Win9x boot floppy or boot from the installation CD. Boot to dos.
Type 'fdisk' without the quotes. Hit Y to the next question. Delete the
partitions you want to get rid of. When the partitions are gone create a
partition. If you want the whole disk to be on one partition say yes.
exit FDISK.
You can install Win9x now but I would recommend this for Win98 or SE
which will make it so you don't have to find the CD every time you
install a driver).
Boot to DOS WITH CDROM support after doing the above, watch to see what
letter the CD will be. Type 'format c:' without the quotes. Wait. Wait .
Wait. OK - it's done. type 'md c:\wincabs' and hit enter. This will make
a folder on your hard drive. Since the CD is usually d: or e: (depends
on 98 or ME) I will use d: and you can change it to whatever it really
is. Type 'copy d:\win98\*.* c:\wincabs' - make sure you have the spaces
in there. This will copy the Windows 98 setup files to the Wincabs
folder. If you are using WindowsME there is a small difference. You
drive should be E and the folder is different. For ME type 'copy
e:\win9x\*.* c:\wincabs". You should see files being copied from the CD.
When that's done type 'c:' and hit enter then type 'cd wincabs' and hit
enter. Type 'setup' and you are on the retro path to the bad old DOS days
