Reference to attachments?

I remember hearing or reading about a program that will save all the
attachments in a file to one folder but that will also leave a
footprint in the email message about where the attachments were saved
and the names of the files, if memory serves.

I don't need taht type of thing, precisely. I was hoping there was a
way to, yes, put a reference in the email message telling the names of
the attached files only. I don't need to know where they were saved,
actually, as I move files around a bit before settling on a final
location. I get so much mail every day from several yahoo groups that
I belong to because email attachments are permitted and we share
graphics and graphics challenge results (re Paint Shop Pro), etc.
It's a pain to save all the attachments because when I go back to
reference a graphic, if it's not with the email msg, it's nearly
impossible to find. So I end up just leaving them in the message.

My pst file is slowly growing no matter how diligently I try to keep
it down to a "minimum". <g> Yeah, at 85 megs, the pst it down to a
minimum alright, even with diligent compacting! <g>

But if there was some sort of script that would allow me to save the
graphics to where I want but also leave a reference behind to the
exact filename(s) involved? Of if there is _anything_ that might do
something like this. I am also open to suggestions for any other type
of solution that would accomplish the same type of thing where I'll
know the names of the attachments so that I can ultimately delete them
from the saved emails.

Thanks so much.

The only freeware I found was Outlook Helper which did way too much
and had a format I didn't like. Too much like those search bars one
accidentally can pick up.

I guess there isn't any free vba code around somewhere like the one
that just saves an attachment to a folder without taking it off the
msg? I got that some time back from this ng or another Outlook ng and
it was in a tutorial on how to do this manually ourselves.

Thanks.
