Reestablishing links

I had a table linked between my front end and my back end. I broke the link
in order to modify my table.

However, when I try to re-establish that link...no matter which table I
start with, it keeps creating a new table with the number one behind 1 and I
never can get back to my original link. Is this because I've modified on of
the tables (that just occurred to me).

What's the deal? And...how can I work around this.

I don't understand? You must modify a table where it is (back-end) and
then there is no need to break anything?

Have you been modifying a copy in the front-end!? and thereby making
another table in the front-end with the same name as the link was??
