When cheking the number of processes under the "Task
Manager," we found that there are 40 processes a run,
which tasks the memory. Anybody can suggest the list of
the min. needed processes to run the W2000 Professional?
Thank you.

I like to think I have an absolute barebones Win2K installation,
here's my list of processes and services:

Processes:

System Idle Process
System
smss.exe
csrss.exe
winlogon.exe
services.exe
lsass.exe
svchost.exe (2 entries)
stisvc.exe (this one's probably optional, I need it for digital video and scanning setup)
explorer.exe
taskmgr.exe

Services:

COM+ Event System
Event Log
Logical Disk Manager
Network Connections
Plug and Play
Protected Storage
Remote Access Connection Manager
Remore Procedure Call (RPC)
Removable Storage
RunAs Servive (this one's probably optional)
Security Accounts Manager
Still Image Service (also probably optional)
System Event Notification
Telephony
Workstation

Rick,
Thank you very much.
So, does that mean that we can simply "delete" the rest of
the processes or just set them to MANUAL? Is there another
way to establish this mmin number of processes?
Regards,
