Come on you guys , I can't beleive I haven't read an answer to the
redbook.sys debarcle , I to have XP which after a dvd player software
install killed my dvd and sound card , now just sits in device manager
as a code39 lemon, there seems a lot of posts with similar: but no
answers I read , everyone been through the usual attemtped fixes !!
anyone fixed this prob at all???
Signed ...Hope for these public forums yet :(

Try a system restore........... get you back to before the software install.

After that I don't have a clue.

I got a fix which out of much frustration I fell over by accident , I
upgraded my DirectX to Ver 9.0 it installs files that this stuff needs
or got corrupted on my last DVD player software install and voila ,
working now .....I didn't find any articles that pointed me to the
fact that DX may have been culprit???
So dont try reinstalling Redbook etc etc as dllcahe overwrites with
original and so forth , a sys restore to a previous date would've been
good but I had it turned orfff!!

Bill.
