Getting a lot of Red X's in my email instead of a image. How do I tell what
appication I need?

For SP2 check:-

Click on the "Security Tab" at the top
.. Make sure that you choose "Internet Zone".
.. Uncheck "Block images and other external content in HTML email (personally I
leave it checked as you can always uncheck it for individual emails).
.. You should leave "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could
potentially be a virus" - but that's entirely up to you.
Click "APPLY" and "OK"

Click on the "READ" Tab at the top. Make sure you uncheck "Read all messages in
plain text"
Click "APPLY" and "OK"

Click the "Send" tab at the top. Make sure you choose "HTML" under "Mail Sending
Format"
Click "APPLY" and "OK"

Other possibilities - The sender has sent a link shortcut instead of an image.
A red box will appear in an email if the image is not available from the web
site that is hosting it.
A referenced image has an incorrect path and points to a non-existent image.
For images sent via HTML emails: it is also possible that your email program
does not support HTML, and you are unable to view images that are present in the
HTML code.
HTML emails with pictures embedded in them will only display if you are online
the Internet, because the pictures are downloaded from the web site as you are
reading the email.
If the graphic is from a web site which is blocked by your firewall program, it
will not display in the email.
