red x over what looks like a mini webpage

I am an idiot obviously. When I try to click on a link inside a webpage I
sometimes get what a symbol that looks like a mini webpage with a red x over
it. Can anyone help?

Here are a few things to try:

Uninstall Hotbar.

Norton Adblocker, mentioned in one of the following.
